My name is Emily Pearce and I am a teacher in Grand Rapids Michigan. I work in Grand Rapids Public Schools as a 5th grade teacher at Burton Elementary. Two big reasons I wanted to become a teacher was to make a difference in the lives of my students, and the excitement of each day never being like the last. I am glad to say that working at Burton has allowed me to fulfill both of those goals!

While I live in Grand Rapids now, I was born on the east side of the state. Featured above is my wonderful family who drive me crazy from time to time but mostly give me support in every area of my life. My mom and dad have been my role models my entire life and continue to cheer me, and are never shy to gain a little perspective when needed. Being the youngest with two older brothers gave an interesting childhood to say the least, but they definitely prepared me to have tough skin for whatever comes along in life.
In my free time I love spending time with family and friends. I also love exploring anywhere and everywhere I can. Growing up in Michigan, I’ve had the pleasure of spending summers on the lake enjoying the sounds of the cicadas by a camp fire. I have loved the fact that within the same year by the time winter I love going for a walk in the crisp snowy streets or cuddled up inside by a fire reading a book. I’ve had the privilege of exploring various parts of Europe, from the busy streets of London to the sheep filled fields of Achill Ireland. I’ve been able to surround myself with amazing friends, a supportive family and a wonderful career. Most importantly I am extremely grateful for it all.
